Real Madrid's Capello snaps over Beckham questions.

Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello defended his decision to start David Beckham on the bench for yesterday's defeat of Real Sociedad.

Becks struck Real's second goal in the 2-0 win in the second-half and while Capello damned him with faint praise, the Italian did admit the hosts improved after the break.

"In the second-half we played with a different desire," said Capello. "There was more movement off the ball. That's how football works, you cannot always play with the ball at your feet."

Asked about his decision to bench Becks, Capello barked: "It's not possible to select 12."

Jose Reyes also struck his first goal in a Real shirt and the coach added: "He hasn't done anything to win a starting position. We have a squad and every player is equally as important. Reyes has quality and I am happy to have him here."

Asked about the booing of Emerson, Capello snapped: "They (the Real fans) can boo who they want. Emerson is a great player and has shown this. The media criticised Raul and today he played a great game. Emerson will do the same."
