Ronaldo resumes Madrid training.

Ronaldo resumed training with Real Madrid on Thursday, two months after undergoing surgery.

Ronaldo, who had calcifications removed from his left knee, last played in Brazil's 1-0 loss to France in the World Cup quarter-finals.

The striker, who faces competition from Ruud van Nistelrooy for a first-team place this season, is not expected to appear in Madrid's league match with Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Ronaldo, who turns 30 next week, came close to moving to AC Milan last month but the clubs couldn't agree on a transfer fee.

Madrid lie in fifth place after two games of the Spanish league season and lost at Lyon 2-0 on Wednesday in their opening Champions League match.
