Real Madrid out of the cup!

Real Madrid are out of the cup on the away goals rule after drawing 1-1 in their second leg match with Betis.

The goal-less draw from the first leg gave Capello's side the advantage, and when Robinho fired home a deflected shot with only five minutes on the clock they appeared to be on their way to qualifying. But despite putting out a line up full of reserve players, Luis Fernández's side equalised when Dani headed past Diego López from close up after Maldonado headed on Isidoro's cross shortly before half time.

Referee Mejuto González ruled out goals by Higuaín and Helguera in the final minutes of each half for offside, and also turned down a penalty appeal by Robinho, and Doblas made important saves from Robinho and Sergio Ramos to see his side through to a quarter final tie with city rivals Sevilla.
