Recreativo Huelva fans killed in motorway smash.

Recreativo de Huelva bosses have called for tonight's Primera Liga clash with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu to be called off after three of their fans died on the way to the match in a collision with a lorry on the A-49 Huelva-Sevilla motorway at around 00.35am last night. The driver of the coach in which they were travelling was also killed and around 40 other passengers were injured, fourteen of whom seriously.

The injured were taken to various hospitals in the provinces of Sevilla and Huelva while the four fatal victims, one of whom is a woman, arrived back in Huelva at 6am this morning for autopsies to be performed. It is not known at this stage when the bodies will be released for burial or cremation.

Of the fourteen seriously injured, two are children and four are women.

The exact cause of the collision with a lorry transporting fish is not yet known for certain, though there are reports that the lorry may have been blocking the carriageway following an earlier accident.
